used to clean fresh water or steam condensate into a steam boiler.
The function of boiler feed pump is delivery water from feed water
tank to steam drum , supplies spray water that controls the
temperature of super-heater, re-heater and auxiliary steam. Boiler
feed water pumps includes high head, low flow pumps. Therefore,
multistage pumps is a common choice when you really need boiler feed
pumps.
Boiler
feed pumps can be designed with 2-stages of pressure.
- Booster Pump: Booster Pump is one of the best pump and it is very cheap. Booster Pump can be located at the up stream side. It is very risky to get water cavitation when feed water tank get lost of pressure. If the feed water pump can not be located high enough above boiler feed pump to develop a high enough above boiler feed pump to develop a high enough NPSH.
- Main Pump: It is very expensive and used to injecting cold water into the pump.
Boiler
feed pumps controls the steam drum level by using a single element
and three elements.
Single
Element: Single element
controls the steam drum level only when reading changed by
discharging control valve. Due to drum pressure or main steam
pressure, the rotating speed will not change. Rotating
speed of the pump maintains the pump discharge pressure 10 bar above
than steam drum pressure.
Three
Elements: Three elements
controls the level by reading feed water flow, main steam flow and
level of steam drum by speed of pump and it adjusted by fluid
coupling. Drum pressure and
main steam pressure will be increase proportional with the load only
when power station is synchronized. This is the right time to change
single element control to three element controls by open main
discharge and shut discharge control valve. By speed, adjust the flow
of the pump and maintains the pump discharge pressure 10 bar above
steam drum pressure.
